Caddy has been one of the best in the industry ever since the early days, conquering the world stage with that trademark aggressive-yet-classy design and the impressive performance numbers on the race-track. However, the one vital element that’s been missing from the brand’s picture is a true, 100% flagship modern-day sedan. And the Cadillac CT6 2016 is the long-awaited arrival. So, did the new-comer bring everything we wanted, or do we have to wait for another 10 years or so for a decent model? Let’s find out! The good news is, the company is rumored to be working on something ground-breaking, a really high-end, premium sedan that will make the German kings blush. On the other hand, even though the current CT6 does have everything it takes to compete with the royalty in the name of Audi, BMW and Mercedes, it doesn’t quite make the cut, if you know what I mean. You know about that astonishing level of finesse and polish that only the best flagship vehicles have? Well, the latest offering from Caddy is just a smidge away from that.
Premium Quality For A Fair Price
When it comes to construction, build quality, ride quality, interior materials/finishing and comfort, you gotta go 100%, while the Cadillac CT6 2016 goes only 99%. With all that said, I’m not trying to tell you that this is a bad car. On the contrary. The greatest “feature” of this beautiful creature is the affordable price-tag (58K MSRP for the entry-level trim with options – that’s really low-priced, compared to the German monsters). So, bottom line is, if you’re looking for a living-breathing luxury sedan that offers high-end performance and comfort while still not trying to rob you off every last single penny, the big Caddy sedan will be your perfect pick. And the CT6 is largely based on the CTS platform, it’s just stretched a bit and tweaked with here and there. That added length has a few awesome benefits, like an enlarged and a lot more comfortable back seat – it feels so much more spacious and can compete in coziness with full-size luxury sedans. The funny thing is, the Cadillac CT6 2016 weighs pretty much the same as its little brother, even though it’s 8.5 inches longer.
Cadillac CT6 2016 – Three Engines To Go With
Furthermore, it’s actually about 1K pounds lighter than the current competition on the market, all thanks to forward-thinking engineering and heavy use of lightweight aluminum in the architecture. The low weight allows the car to be super-responsive on the road and provide a fun experience on the road, along with better fuel-efficiency, especially with the standard-level turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. A unit like that would not really work in any other large sedan, however, it’s more than capable of powering the Cadillac CT6 2016 and making it feel light as a feather. Hey, speaking of engines, let me tell you about the powertrain options real quick. So, you’ve got a choice between three engines: the entry-level unit is a 2.0-lit 4-cylinder (turbocharged) that’s capable of 265 Horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes with RWD (rear-wheel drive). As for fuel-efficiency, this powertrain returns 31 miles per gallon on the highway and 22MPG in the city (25MPG combined).
V6 Turbocharged – 0-To-60 In 5.2 Seconds
The second engine is a V6 that’s optional for the standard and Luxury trims and standard for the Premium Luxury and Platinum trims. It’s a 3.6-lit beast that pumps out 335HP and 284 lb-ft of torque. Economy is decent – 28MPG hwy/19MPG city. The final engine is also a V6, but it’s turbocharged, and it’s good for 404HP and 400 lb-ft of torque. The Cadillac CT6 2016 with the turbo V6 goes from zero to 60 miles per hour in 5.2 seconds, which is a pretty solid result. Efficiency is a bit low, 21MPG combined. And that’s pretty much it for the latest offering from Caddy. If you wanna feel “royal” for a fair price, this is your best bet.
